Tara Fela-Durotoye

Tara is a trailblazing beauty entrepreneur in Nigeria who revolutionised the beauty industry in the late 1990's. She started her journey in her early twenties when professional makeup services were virtually non-existent in Nigeria. With her freshly earned Law degree and deeply inspired by her stylish stepmother's elegance, she courageously decided to launch her first makeup directory in 1999 from a small, humble office.

'House of Tara' International grew from that tiny office to become a comprehensive beauty enterprise with 270 products, 23 stores, and 14 beauty schools with plans to build studios in South Africa, Kenya, and Ghana. The company employs over 150 employees, has trained over 10,000 Students, and has a groundbreaking network of over 15,000 reps across the country. Globally recognised with numerous awards including Forbes' list of Young Power Women in Africa but to name a few, Tara continues to inspire as a beacon of entrepreneurial spirit and women's empowerment.

She is an alumna of prestigious institutions like Lagos Business School and Harvard Kennedy School, and remains committed to nurturing the next generation of women entrepreneurs. She continues to advise young people to start, to start anything. It can take 5, 10, even 20 years to feel accomplished but you have started the journey.
